Lodging
is at the Baymont Inn (currently Amerihost Inn) 4685 NE 14th
Street, Des
Moines, IA 50313. The room rate is $74.95 per night plus tax. Call at
1-515-265-4777 / 1-515-262-7469 Fax to reserve a room (s). They are holding a block of rooms under the
name A.F.G.E. until March 15. After that they are still at the group rate as
available.
Rooms
must be reserved and paid for with credit card. If you must pay with a
check, call me at 1-515-277-6726 and we will work something out.
Registration will be in the hospitality
room at the rear of the Inn. There will be a training fee of approximately
$20.00. We will also have information on shopping, tours, and points of
interest available.
Please fill out the
enclosed post card to help us in our planning. The best way to reach the Inn
is from I-35/I-80 on the north side of Des Moines. Take exit 136 HWY 69
and E14th Street, and go on a few blocks south. The Inn is on the left
(eastside) of the road. Using I-235 to get there is NOT
advisable due to construction.

NOTICE OF NOMINATIONS AND ELECTION
Date:
March 9, 2007
RE:
Nominations and election of officers for the Midwest Council of Food
Inspection Locals.
Qualifications
for officers are: be a member in good standing of this council; be a member
for one year of an AFGE local, immediately preceding the closing of the
nomination process; not be a member in any labor organization not affiliated
with the AFL-CIO.
Candidates
must accept nomination at the meeting or, if not in attendance, submit a
written acceptance to the Council president, to be received by close of
nominations. The member making the nomination has the responsibility of
informing the nominee of his or her nomination. Placement on the ballot will
be determined immediately following the nominations.
A
runoff election will be held immediately following the counting of the ballots
if necessary. Each candidate may have a reasonable number of observers, who
are members, present throughout the election process, including the tally of
ballots.
THIS NOTICE HAS BEEN MAILED TO EACH MEMBER’S LAST KNOWN ADDRESS AT LEAST FIFTEEN (15) DAYS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE NOMINATION AND ELECTION MEETING.
